Fresh from the couch and went outside running.
Changed my lifestyle and got a new life by loosing 46kg. (101 pound)in one year. I stopped eating sugar (candy, cakes and other sugar stuff), started to eat more fruits and vegetables, started to eat regular and watched my calories. I try to minimize the calories in the food product by choosing skim milk, healthy fat and watch the portion of the protein and carps.
The year 2007 I got pregnant and got fat again :) The pregnancy was very difficult for me emotionally and I did not have the strength to think about my diet and it went like it went hehe...
Now I am taking care of my diet, I have started exercising by going out for a run and I finished the http://www.c25k.com program 24th of July 2009 and
I did my first 10K in the Reykjavík Marathon race 22th of August 2009 but then I made a new Goal to run an half marathon the 21th August 2010 AND I DID IT!!! :)
I love it how the healthy lifestyle takes your life to another place. Your get a new life quality, happier family, more friends, positive attitude and most of all healthy feeling in your body.
The only thing you have to do is stand up from the couch and begin! That is what I did. My first run was a 45 sec run but one year later I managed to run 15 km. I also cycled 110 km in one day during the Cycle to Work days here in Iceland!!! Can YOU imagen what YOU could do!
My attitude now is thinking of me as a WINNER IN LIVE!

In this chapter I talk about my point of view to questions that I have gotten through e-mail about my weight loss. I have to tell you that I have no psychology education or nutrition education so what is written here is my experience and methods that I have used to lose over 100 pounds (40.6 kg), so it is up to you to desite if my methods are for you and if you want to follow them.
What did it take you a long time to learn the The Weight Consultants (it is not the same as Weight Watchers).
It did not take much time to learn the diet methods but to calculate what to eat and put it in your food diary took about two to three weeks.
Do you eat wheat and yeast and what bread do you eat ?
I eat all kinds of bread and it can contain all kinds of stuff like raisins, nuts, cumin but the only thing I think about is I only eat two slices
(one in the morning and one in the lunch) and it cannot weight over 30g. (2x30g.)
I have noticed that your method to lose some weight does not seem much of a deal. Is it not complicated to eat by the The Weight Consultants methods ?
What I desited when I took the decision to lose weight I told to myself that it
would be fun and I set my mind to it. I also started to think about what I was eating and if I would plan my unhealthy living like I plan my healthy living it would also be complicated so why not give it a try and switch to healthy lifestyle ? And if you think about it, driving to a restaurant, waiting in lines for one mc. Donald’s can take more time than making the lunch yourself.
If you are really heavy, can the diet help you ?
Yes.. no doubt! This diet is colorful and have so much options, you are not isolated from your friends and family in dinner parties and all family members can eat the same food as you do. You make your own sweets and cakes and it is so good, and you cannot forget that you are full all the time.
I do not like fish can I cook it in various ways ?
Yes you can! You can also eat shrimps, lobster, smoked salmon and all kind of fish so you can make yourself shrimp salad with mayo (yes! mayo), eggs, apples and also tuna salad and all kind of stuff! And of course cook the fish in traditional ways with vegetable and do not forget that grilled fish is great!
How about candy, do you not eat candy at any time ?
No.. when I am in Iceland I do not eat candy at any time. I have so many times tried to have no candy on Sunday to Friday and eat candy on Saturday and it have never worked for me. I have always given up and now I desited just give candy up and now for the first time I do not even look at it when it is sitting in front of me. I make my own candy now that is healthy and does not have many calories. It took me about two weeks to stop craving for candy and it feels so good not have to eat it.
But if I cannot lose weight what then ?
You can do it! If you want it, you can do it. If you set your mind to It, you can do it, if you set yourself goals and methods to get to the goal point you can do it. It is not enough to just to think about losing weight you have to sit down and write down how and what you are going to do to lose the weight and if you do, you can do it. You have to follow the list you did and be committed to it and if you do, you can do it. It is not enough to start a company and think, “after one year I am going to be a millionaire” than you sit down and just wait for the money. You have to do your work to get the prices. You also have to get support in your environment and do not be ashamed for your decision.
Why where you able to lose the weight now, why not before ?
This is the first time that I start to lose weight for myself and no one else. This was my decision and made by my rules. I got all the support I needed from my family, friends and
The Weight Consultants and I desited to take only 5kg at time. I sat down and wrote my goals and they where realistic. I desited that now was the time and made it to be a hobby.
Was it at any time difficult ?
Well it depends. When I read the questions I thought NO! but it is not fear to just answer it like that. Of course it is not easy at the beginning to look at the cakes and sweets and you cannot have any. Your blood sugar is unstable, your habits is to eat when you want and what you want at any time. But if I think back I have done things in this live that are much more difficult for the soul and body then lose weight so it is not that difficult. It is also supportive to see your weight go down 2 pounds a week for many weeks and you do not want to quit.
What was your main support when you where losing weight ?
I went once a week to
the Weight Consultants and the weighted me, I sat down and listened to the weight consultants talk about methods and ways to lose weight. I had my sister in law to give me support (she was also losing weight, about 50 pounds), I had my family and friends and I made it become a hobby to lose the weight. I also told myself that it was my decision to lose the weight and I had to respect my decision. I had to change my lifestyle so I could lose the weight and what gave me support was that, I always thought to myself that all the chocolates and candy would exist when I would get to my goal weight. It is ok not to have the pumpkin pie at Halloween this year. Halloween will be next year to and then I will have some pie and feel good about it.
